Cancel Culture

Death is the price you pay for holding opinions considered contrary or even subversive to social order. This is the standard handed down throughout the ages.

The "woke" generation, who read and watched all that has been, have a better way of dealing a strong hand against those who refuse to join the train to wherever they are taking society. It is called Cancel Culture.

We have all watched it happen repeatedly, it requires no definition. Someone says or does something deemed wrong by the watching public, the new government, they raise opprobrium against the person and ensure to bring down the person's source of livelihood, position of relevance and their self-esteem. Along with a jail term if obtainable. In short, those offended act like the priests Ṣọ̀pọ̀ná, the Yoruba god of infectious skin diseases, raining down ȩ̀tȩ̀ (leprous skin condition) on the whoever has been deemed to have sought ȩ̀tȩ́ (public ridicule).

In a way, this new style -cancel culture- is fascinating; and mostly holds worse implications for anyone who finds themselves on the receiving end.

I mean, one generation screamed, "off with his head!" and did that and moved on. They caused much distress for the victims and their families, of course. But the castigated person is relieved of his life and oblivious to the earth and it's burdens. This generation is too squeamish to kill or burn. They have opted for àpasáyé (To kill someone in many ways but the actual). They unravel such persons' humanity. Paint them as undeserving of what they have; ruin whatever they consider wealth.

• De-platform her.
• Sack him.
• Delete her social media accounts. 
• Don't watch any of his movies again.

Cancel Culture does not spill blood but the victim's liveliness will drain out. Guilty or not. Bad or not.

All you need do is hold a contrary opinion and such opinion be noticed by beloved social media stars. Forget government censorship, most people can avoid that.
