The Ancients Knew

 How did they  know?

Blast this guaranteed loss of communal memory. A lot f things we would drop, many more we would do, if only we knew why they were instituted.

It's "funny but true."

My great-grands raised to power 100 knew that soap does not fully wash off blood as such.

The ancients through many cultures revere blood and used various means to appease for blood spilt for the wrong reasons.

In some circles, the most impossible desires are forced to be through blood spilling...even until date.

Midwives and grannies knew that to get the natal blood off neonates, they have to step higher above ose dudu. They rubbed wriggling newborns with palm oil (or whatever was applicable in each culture) and calmly washed each body part. They scraped off newborn babies' luscious full hair. No, it was not always a religion thing. They did it to clean the babies properly. Grooming.

Then came an influence objecting - no need. The hair is so fine. It's the softest that hair will ever be. All true; missing the point though.

A form of deep cleansing that is in tandem with the ancients' deep connection with the elements in the cosmos. That is the point.

ANYWAY!

Then comes science, sprightly:

Forensic investigations conducted on crime scenes that involve injured, dead, or missing people in advanced economies include checking for blood that has been "cleaned off" after the crime was committed. They use Luminol or Combur® to check surfaces, shoes or fabrics for blood that had been made "invisible" through wiping or mopping or even drycleaning

Hmmm! Super blue Omo may wash clean but it does not completely erase the presence of the blood.

DNA!
